An Open Letter to Goosie Tanoh: Transforming Healthcare with a 24-Hour Economy in Sogakope

Dear Hon. Goosie Tanoh,

As Ghana continues to champion the vision of a 24-hour economy to drive national growth, the health sector—particularly in critical hubs like Sogakope in the Volta Region—presents a vital opportunity for immediate impact. Implementing a dedicated 24-hour healthcare framework in Sogakope will preserve lives, strengthen emergency response, and generate sustainable local employment.

To realize this vision, the following targeted interventions are proposed for implementation:

  • Nighttime Emergency Transport: Deploy a fleet of 100 dedicated, fully equipped tricycles (Aboboyaa/Pragya ambulances) to provide free transport for emergency patients during night hours, ensuring timely access to medical centers.
  • Overnight Specialist Care: Guarantee the physical presence of specialist doctors and offer full consultation services starting from 10:00 PM to address late-night medical crises effectively.
  • Support for Patient Relatives: Establish a free hot meal service for family members accompanying patients overnight, easing their financial and physical strain during critical admissions.
  • Enhanced Critical Care Staffing: Station highly trained military health nurses at key care points to reinforce discipline, speed, and specialized emergency response.
  • Dedicated Patient Support Staff: Recruit and deploy new support staff dedicated strictly to running hospital errands for patients, eliminating delays in retrieving medication, lab results, and essential supplies.

Executing these key measures will significantly boost survival rates in the Volta Region, build public trust in the regional healthcare system, and create essential jobs across transportation, hospitality, and health administration.

Your leadership in integrating these steps into the broader 24-hour economy strategy will serve as a powerful model for healthcare delivery across the country.

Respectfully submitted,

David Tetteh
