3 Dead, Curfew Imposed in Nkwanta South After Fresh Conflict

Three people have been shot dead and nine others injured following the exchange of gunshots in the protracted ethnic conflict in Nkwanta-South Municipality.

The incident happened on Friday and this has prompted the imposition of a curfew in the Nkwanta South municipality.

The bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at the morgue at Saint Joseph’s Hospital.

The Ministry of the Interior on the advice of the National Security Council, imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew, which is affecting eight communities in the area. The curlew is from 5 pm to 6 am. 

The ethnic conflict has been ongoing for several years, and attempts to stop it have proved futile. It’s about a protracted land dispute among the people of Adele, Akyode and Challa.

The communities in the area are Nkwanta, Bonakye, Odomi, and Nyankoma. The rest are Power, Kromase, Shiare, Nyambo, Abrewanko, and Keri.
