Ghanaian Para-athlete Zinabu Issah has secured her second silver medal at the ongoing World Para Athletics (WPA) 2025 Marrakech Grand Prix.

Issah, who showcased her talent and determination, won the silver medal in the Women’s F57 Shot Put event with a strong throw of 8.54 metres last Saturday. She was a few centimetres behind her Nigerian counterpart who threw 8.94 metres to win the gold medal.

Last Friday, the Ghanaian won gold in the women’s F57 discus with a throw of 29.25 metres. It broke her existing record of 26.66 metres set at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Issah’s remarkable performance continues to solidify her place among Africa’s leading para-athletes in field events.

With this latest success, she is on the verge of qualifying for the Women’s F57 Shot Put and F57 Discus Throw at the prestigious WPA 2025 World Championships and the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

However, to fully cement her qualification credentials, Issah is scheduled to participate in additional WPA international tournaments, including the WPA Paris 2025 Grand Prix and the All-Women WPA 2025 Grand Prix in the Czech Republic.

Her consistent improvement and ability to break her personal best positions her as a strong contender for upcoming major global competitions.

This achievement highlights the rising excellence of Ghanaian para-athletics on the international stage and inspires aspiring athletes across the continent.

Ghanaian para athlete Gilbert Ampiah also bagged a bronze medal in the T44 high jump event with a leap of 1.73m.
