The Cost of Being the “Strong Friend”

Strong Friend

There is a specific kind of exhaustion that comes from being the person everyone calls on when things go wrong. People expect you to be “Christ-like”—endlessly patient, always forgiving, and ready to solve every problem at a moment’s notice.

But here’s the reality: Even the strongest people need a foundation.

If you are only present for the “benefits”—the advice, the help, the listening ear—but you’re nowhere to be found when I’m the one in the valley, that’s not a connection. That’s a transaction.

True support isn’t just calling on someone when you need a miracle; it’s standing by them so they don’t need one.
