Ghana’s recovery will not be swift, it will take time– Akorfa Edjeani
Veteran actress Akorfa Edjeani has called on Ghanaians to remain patient as the country works to overcome its current economic challenges with the election of John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking at a Thanksgiving Service organized by Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, Member of Parliament for Ho West Constituency, Akorfa expressed optimism in the leadership of President-elect John Dramani Mahama, while cautioning that the road to recovery will be long and arduous.
According to news report by myjoyonline.com, the well-respected actress said John Mahama’s win was significant since Ghanaians were tired of the out-going government’s arrogance and malfeasance.
“For me, this win is very significant. It tells us that Ghanaians are very tired of the arrogance and the malfeasance, the financial doldrums that the elephant plunged us into,” Akorfa Edjeani said.
The celebrated actress did not hold back in her assessment of the country’s current economic state, blaming the outgoing administration for the struggles Ghanaians face today.
“What I am expecting from H.E. John Dramani Mahama is to lead us out of all these economic nightmares. It’s not going to be easy, so I indulge all Ghanaians to be patient because there is nothing in the coffers, let’s be realistic.
“The country has been turned upside down. They have stolen everything, all the money is gone. It’s going to take time to recover, so I hope that Ghanaians will be patient and we will come together as one people,” she urged.
