GTA launches ‘December in GH 2024’ to kick off the festive season
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially launched the sixth edition of its highly anticipated ‘December in GH’ events and festivities calendar, marking the beginning of the most exciting season of the year.
The launch event, held at Castle Gardens in Osu on Friday, August 23, 2024, represented a significant milestone in the ongoing success of the Beyond The Return initiative, which was introduced in 2019.
This year’s edition promises a diverse array of activities, strategically spread across various regions, ensuring that everyone can participate in the festivities.
The Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Andrew Agyapa Mercer, delivered a keynote address, highlighting the substantial economic impact of both the Year of Return and December in GH initiatives on Ghana’s economy.
“The Year of Return and December in Ghana have had a profound impact on our economy, and we cannot overstress its significance,” Minister Mercer emphasised, reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting this initiative and positioning Ghana as a premier global destination.
The Minister commended the visionary leadership of Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, for his instrumental role in positioning Ghana as a premier international destination. Agyeman shed light on the meticulous selection process for events featured on the official ‘December in GH’ calendar, ensuring a high-quality experience for all attendees.
“A rigorous evaluation process by a steering committee guarantees the success and enjoyment of all events on the calendar.
“ I encourage all Ghanaians to join in this year’s mission to give Ghana a global appeal and make all events lined up from sceneries and education through to nightlife and recreation a success,” he said.
